Brazil closed out 2024 celebrating a historic milestone in the pork sector. According to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), Brazilian exports reached 1.352 million tons, marking a 10% increase compared to 2023. This unprecedented performance was accompanied by a 7.6% rise in revenue, surpassing US$ 3 billion for the first time, with a total of US$ 3.033 billion throughout the year.

Key buyer markets strengthened their trust in Brazilian pork. The Philippines stood out as the largest destination, purchasing 254.3 thousand tons (+101.8%), followed by China (241 thousand tons), Japan (93.4 thousand tons, +131.6%), and Mexico (42.8 thousand tons, +49.9%). Shipments to Chile also grew significantly, with 113 thousand tons (+29.1%), further consolidating Brazil’s strength in Latin America.

Among exporting states, Santa Catarina led with 730.7 thousand tons (+10.1%), followed by Rio Grande do Sul (289.9 thousand tons, +3.2%). Paraná, however, is emerging as a powerhouse, recording 185.5 thousand tons exported in 2024—a significant increase of 9.1%.

ABPA’s president, Ricardo Santin, stated that 2024 was a year of strategic expansion for the sector: “Brazil increased the reach of its exports, diversified its markets, and raised the monthly average by over 10 thousand tons. For 2025, we expect to maintain strong flows to Asian and American markets.”
